a couple of months later i bump into a close friend who has known dad for many years.. this guy was stoked that he was getting married and mentioned how it was a shame dad wasn't around for the wedding.. yesterday i called in to see him and he told me something that had happened to him.. he was talking to his sister, who lives in another town, and she is active in some spiritual group.
she said she had never met jack, my dad, but that she has been talking to him and that he had a message he wanted given to this friend, her brother.. dad wanted him to get out of this relationship fast.. he never took it seriously and carried on as usual.. not long after that, this fiancee of his smashed up his 4x4, was on a restricted drivers licence and spent the money he gave her for his hire purchases.. so, his truck is wrecked, he can't claim insurance to get it repaired, he still has to pay it off, a lot of his possessions have been repo-ed and that basically he is in sh*t street without a shovel.. do you think it was a message from my dad ??.

I totally believe you. Thanks for sharing. I know some people who have had experiences, but will not share because they are too personal or they fear being ridiculed.

Unlike JW's I believe "death" is but a doorway into another realm, we do not just "sleep" (one of the stupidest things I've ever heard...why would God do that..zzzzzzzzzzzzzz)
Years after the death of my father, my mother causually tells me about two experiences she had regarding him contacting her, once, a week after his passing and another time a few years later. My mom's very straight forward, not a nut and was born in Missouri (the Show Me state, where everything has to be proved). I asked her why she hadn't told us before and she just shrugged it off as "too special and personal" - she and my dad were very close.
I also know another lady, who has no religious beliefs, but had a similar experience after the passing of her husband. She was overcome with grief so bad that after the 'experience' she was able to pull herself together and go on.

those who in their presumptuousness imagine that there will not be a day when jehovah settles accounts with his people can only be described as faithless and apostate.
but, for those who fear god the prospect of jehovahs impending judgment both fills one with dread and awe.

It seems to me I remember reading years and years ago that in the phrase "eternal punishment" the hebrew word used for "eternal" (in the original scripture) meant God, as in The Eternal One. Therefore the phrase doesn't mean "endless punishment" but rather "God's punishment".... which puts a whole different spin on things.

i'm considering doing some volunteer work for them, but don't know really know much about them.
i believe they are "faith-based", which i'm not necessarily keen on, but they get people into houses and bypass government red tape, which i do like.
The corporation I work for has a voluneer committee which has worked on several Habitat Houses. I think it is a great organization that corporations as well as faith-based groups get involved with. There really is no 'preaching' or religionizing at all, except the grassroots - man helping his fellow man.

in approximately 1951, jane left the family...just walked out.
i brought up the possibility that perhaps her sisters were hurt that age 16 she walked out on them; just like their mother.
The basic issue for me is do I go to the funeral of the man who (probably) molested my mother
For me, the answer would be NO. However I would go to support others that I know/love who are grieving. If you're really ambivilent, and money isn't an issue, I guess it goes down to a coin toss.
